About the Houston Minecraft World
Houston is the flattest big city you can generate — the downtown core sits about 15 m above sea level and the ground barely moves for 50 km in any direction — so everything the world has to say, it says with buildings and roads. Downtown is a tight cluster of 40 towers (the JPMorgan Chase Tower, at 305 m, is the tallest in Texas) wrapped by a freeway ring, and Houston's famous lack of zoning means offices, apartment blocks, bungalows and strip malls sit side by side in a way no other American city produces. The bayous are the other signature: Buffalo Bayou winds through the west side of downtown in a green ribbon, and the park along it is the one place the city is anything but a grid.

Downtown Houston
The skyline cluster between I-45, I-10 and US-59 — Chase Tower, Wells Fargo Plaza, the Pennzoil wedges — plus Discovery Green, the ballpark and the arena on its east side. In Minecraft it reads as an island of towers in a sea of low roofs.
Hermann Park
A 445-acre park 5 km south of downtown with the zoo, the reflecting pool and the Miller Outdoor Theatre, bordered by Rice University's quads to the west and the Texas Medical Center's hospital towers — the world's largest medical complex — to the south.
The Galleria
Uptown's shopping district 9 km west, dominated by the 275 m Williams Tower standing alone above the mall. A second, smaller skyline that shows up on the horizon from downtown rooftops.
Buffalo Bayou Park
The green corridor between downtown and Shepherd Drive: the bayou's meanders, the Sabine Street bridge, the Waugh Drive bat colony bridge and the Eleanor Tinsley lawn. The only curves in a city of right angles.
Plus all streets, buildings, parks, and terrain elevation from OpenStreetMap data — faithfully converted to Minecraft blocks. Available for both Java and Bedrock Edition.
Recommended Selection for Houston
The Large frame the page opens on, centred downtown, takes in the whole tower cluster, Minute Maid Park, Discovery Green and the east end of Buffalo Bayou Park.
