Terms of Service
Last updated:
These terms are the agreement between you and Brewer Family Interests LLC, a Kentucky (USA) limited liability company (“we”, “us”), which runs Map2Minecraft. By using map2minecraft.com or getting a world from it, you agree to them. If you’re under 18, please read them with a parent or guardian, who agrees to them for you, especially before anything is bought.
- Worlds you buy or unlock are yours to use: play them, edit them, host them, film them.
- The map data comes from OpenStreetMap, so when you share a world publicly, credit “© OpenStreetMap contributors”.
- Map2Minecraft is not an official Minecraft product.
- Pro renews until you cancel, and you can cancel any time in the billing portal.
- If a world doesn’t work, we’ll rebuild it or refund you. See the refund policy.
1. What Map2Minecraft does
You pick a place on a map, and we build it as a Minecraft world from OpenStreetMap data and public elevation data. You get a world file for Minecraft Java Edition or a .mcworld file for Bedrock Edition. Worlds are made automatically, so they’re only as good as the map data behind them. Buildings can be missing or simplified, heights can be estimates, and interiors are made up, not real. The preview shows you the world before you pay, and you need your own copy of Minecraft to play it.
We keep improving the service, so features, size limits and prices for new purchases can change. We try hard to keep the site running, but we can’t promise it will always be available or error-free.
2. Who can use it
Anyone can build and preview worlds. To buy a world or subscribe, you must be old enough to make a binding agreement where you live, or have a parent or guardian do it for you. Under-13s should have a parent or guardian give their email and make any payment. The “Ask a parent” button is there for that.
3. No accounts, just your email
There are no usernames or passwords. When we need to send you something, we use the email address you give us, so please make sure it’s right. We can’t deliver to a mistyped address. Pro is linked to the email you subscribed with: entering it in a browser turns Pro on there, and so does your restore link. Managing your billing needs a sign-in link we email to that address, so keep your restore link and those emails to yourself.
4. Free worlds
Small “Tiny” worlds can be unlocked for free with an email address. There are daily limits, and we can change or end the free offer at any time. Please don’t use scripts or many email addresses to get around the limits.
5. Buying a world
- Price. Prices are set in US dollars and shown before you pay. At checkout, Stripe may offer to charge you in your local currency at its exchange rate; if you pay in dollars, your bank may add its own conversion fees.
- Payment. Payments are handled by Stripe. You can pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Link where your device supports them. We never see your full card number. The charge shows on your statement as “BFI LLC”.
- Delivery. Most worlds download straight away, and we also email you a link that works for a short while after the world is built. Some worlds, such as XL worlds and worlds paid for through a parent link, are built after payment and emailed when they’re ready; those links work for about a week. If any link has expired when you open it, we rebuild the world and email you a fresh link.
- Keep a copy. We’re not a storage service. Once you’ve downloaded your world, keep your own copy.
- Paying for someone else. When a parent or anyone else pays through an “Ask a parent” link, the person who pays is the buyer, and the world is sent to the email shown on that link with a copy to the buyer.
6. Pro subscriptions
Pro costs $39 a month or $299 a year for new subscribers. It gives you worlds up to 100 km² in Java (40 km² in Bedrock) and unlimited world generations.
- Renewal. Pro renews automatically every month or year, at the price you signed up at, until you cancel.
- Cancelling. You can cancel any time from the billing portal on your account page. Pro keeps working until the end of the period you’ve already paid for, and then it stops. Refunds for partial periods are covered in the refund policy.
- Price changes. If we change Pro’s price, existing subscribers keep the price they signed up at. If we ever have to change the price for existing subscribers, we’ll email you at least 30 days before it applies, and you can cancel before then.
- Fair use. “Unlimited” means no per-world charge for you, your own server or your own team. Please don’t share or resell Pro access, and don’t use automated tools to generate worlds in bulk. If use is heavy enough to slow the service down for everyone else, we may ask you to ease off or limit it.
7. Refunds
If something goes wrong with a world you paid for, we’ll fix it or refund you. The details are in our refund policy, which is part of these terms.
8. Using the site fairly
Please don’t:
- break the law, or use Map2Minecraft to help anyone else break it;
- try to get around payments, free-world limits or security, or access worlds you didn’t pay for;
- scrape the site or call our generator or APIs from scripts or bots, overload the service, or interfere with how it works;
- resell access to the generator or to Pro, or run a competing service on top of ours;
- use our forms to send spam, abuse or anything harmful;
- use a world to harass, threaten or invade the privacy of real people, for example by targeting someone’s home.
If someone breaks these rules, we may refuse service, cancel free unlocks or end a Pro subscription. If we end a subscription for a reason that isn’t a breach of these terms, we’ll refund the unused part.
9. Your worlds and our site
- Your worlds. Once you’ve paid for or unlocked a world, you can use it however you like, for personal or commercial purposes. You can play it, edit it, build on it, run it on a public or monetized server, show it in videos and streams, and share copies. We don’t claim anything you build in it. Two conditions come from other people’s rights: credit OpenStreetMap (section 10), and follow Mojang’s rules for Minecraft (section 11).
- Not exclusive. Worlds are made from public map data, so anyone can generate the same place. Buying a world doesn’t give you exclusive rights to that place or its map.
- Previews. Previews, flyovers and walkthroughs are for deciding whether to buy. The world file itself is licensed to you once it’s paid for or unlocked.
- Our site. The Map2Minecraft name, logo, website and our own code belong to us. Please don’t copy the site or use our name in a way that suggests we endorse you.
10. Map data and open-source credits
- OpenStreetMap. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL). When you share a world or show it publicly (a video, a public server, a download page), include the credit “Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors” and, where you can, a link to openstreetmap.org/copyright. A sign at spawn, a line in your video description or a note on your server’s website all work.
- Elevation. Terrain comes from the Terrain Tiles open dataset, which is built from public sources including the U.S. Geological Survey, NOAA and the European Union’s Copernicus programme. See full credits.
- Arnis. Our world generator is built on Arnis, open-source software by Louis Erbkamm, licensed under the Apache License 2.0. We’ve modified it to run as a web service. Map2Minecraft is independent and isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by the Arnis project.
11. Minecraft
NOT AN OFFICIAL MINECRAFT PRODUCT. NOT APPROVED BY OR ASSOCIATED WITH MOJANG OR MICROSOFT.
Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang Synergies AB, mentioned here to describe what our worlds are for. You need your own copy of Minecraft, and your use of it, including on servers and in videos, is governed by Mojang’s End User License Agreement and Usage Guidelines.
12. Real places, real limits
Worlds are a game version of real places, built from map data that can be incomplete or out of date. Don’t rely on them for navigation, safety, planning, property or legal decisions.
13. No guarantees beyond the ones we make
We work hard to make every world good, and our refund policy is our promise when one isn’t. Beyond that, and as far as the law allows, Map2Minecraft and its worlds are provided “as is” and “as available”, without other warranties, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement.
14. Limits on our liability
As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim about Map2Minecraft is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$50.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t legally be limited, such as liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer under the laws of the country where you live.
15. Changes and ending
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we’ll make it clear on the site, or email Pro subscribers, before it takes effect. Changes don’t apply to purchases already made. You can stop using Map2Minecraft at any time. Sections 9 to 16 continue to apply after you stop.
16. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be decided by the state or federal courts located in Kentucky. If you live in the EU, the UK or another country whose consumer laws give you the right to bring a claim at home under local law, you keep that right. If you have a problem, please contact us first. Most things can be fixed with one email.
