About the Albuquerque Minecraft World

Albuquerque is a mile high and tilted. The city slopes 300 m from the Rio Grande's cottonwood bosque at 1,490 m up to the foothills of the Sandia Mountains, which then rise another 1,600 m to Sandia Crest — so a world here has real gradient in every east–west street, and the mountains fill the horizon. Old Town's 1706 plaza and the San Felipe de Neri church sit near the river in a cluster of adobe buildings; downtown's small grid is a couple of kilometres east with the KiMo Theatre's Pueblo Deco on Central Avenue; Central itself is Route 66, running past the University of New Mexico's Pueblo Revival campus and Nob Hill's neon shopfronts on its way across the city. The Sandia Peak Tramway climbs 1,200 m from the northeast heights.

What's Included in the Albuquerque World

Old Town

The 1706 plaza with San Felipe de Neri church, the surrounding adobe shops and galleries, and the BioPark's aquarium and botanic garden on the river just west, 2 km from downtown.

Nob Hill

The Route 66 strip east of the university, 4 km from downtown — 1930s–50s shopfronts, neon signs and the Nob Hill Business Center's towers, with bungalow streets behind.

University of New Mexico

The main campus on Central Avenue between downtown and Nob Hill: John Gaw Meem's Pueblo Revival buildings, Zimmerman Library and the duck pond, with the stadium and arena across the freeway to the south.

Sandia Peak Tramway

The 4.3 km aerial tramway from the northeast heights to the 3,163 m summit, 20 km from downtown. Too far for one downtown world; frame it on its own for the biggest terrain in any Albuquerque build.

Plus all streets, buildings, parks, and terrain elevation from OpenStreetMap data — faithfully converted to Minecraft blocks. Available for both Java and Bedrock Edition.

Recommended Selection for Albuquerque

The opening Large frame on downtown covers the KiMo Theatre and Central Avenue, the railyards, the edge of Old Town and the first blocks of the university. Move it to the Old Town pick for the plaza, the BioPark and the river bosque, or to the Nob Hill pick for Route 66's strip and the university together.
