About the Tucson Minecraft World

Tucson sits in a Sonoran Desert basin at 730 m, ringed by four mountain ranges, and even a small downtown world shows it: Sentinel Peak — the "A" Mountain with its whitewashed letter — rises 130 m straight out of the west side of the city, and the Santa Catalinas fill the northern horizon with 2,000 m of relief. Downtown itself is low and compact, with the Sun Link streetcar running from the Mercado district across the Santa Cruz River, past the Presidio and Congress Street, up Fourth Avenue's shops and into the University of Arizona's red-brick campus around Old Main. Barrio Viejo's adobe row houses lie just south of downtown; Reid Park's zoo and lakes are 5 km east in Midtown; Mission San Xavier del Bac, the White Dove of the Desert, is 14 km south.

What's Included in the Tucson World

University of Arizona

The campus 2.5 km northeast of downtown: Old Main (1891), the Mall's long lawn, Arizona Stadium and the McKale Center, with the student neighbourhoods around it.

Fourth Avenue

The shopping and bar street linking downtown to the university, with the streetcar running along it and the Rialto and Fox theatres at its downtown end on Congress Street.

Sentinel Peak

The 884 m hill with the giant "A" on its east face, 2 km west of downtown across the Santa Cruz River, with Tumamoc Hill beside it. With terrain on it is 130 m of real climb.

Reid Park

Midtown's park 5 km east: the Reid Park Zoo, two lakes, Hi Corbett Field and the rose garden, surrounded by mid-century ranch-house streets.

Plus all streets, buildings, parks, and terrain elevation from OpenStreetMap data — faithfully converted to Minecraft blocks. Available for both Java and Bedrock Edition.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's included in the Tucson Minecraft world?
The Tucson world includes all buildings, roads, parks, and terrain elevation from OpenStreetMap data. Key landmarks like University of Arizona, Fourth Avenue, Sentinel Peak are faithfully recreated block by block.
How do I import the world into Minecraft?
For Java Edition, extract the zip and copy the world folder to your .minecraft/saves/ directory. For Bedrock Edition, double-click the .mcworld file to import automatically.
Do I need any mods to play?
No mods required. The world works with vanilla Minecraft, both Java and Bedrock Edition.
Do the saguaros show up?
Individual cacti aren't in the map data, so the desert generates as open ground with the scrub cover the land-cover data gives it. The mountains, washes and the river channel are all there; Saguaro National Park's east and west units sit 15–20 km from downtown.
