About the San Jose Minecraft World

San Jose is the biggest city in the Bay Area and the one with the lowest skyline, because the airport is 3 km north of downtown and the flight path caps building heights at about 90 m. The result is a wide, even downtown of mid-rise blocks around San Pedro Square, the Guadalupe River's park running north–south through it, San José State's campus on the east and the SAP Center arena by Diridon Station on the west. Beyond that it is the valley's suburban grid, with Santana Row's shopping street to the west and Willow Glen's 1920s bungalows to the south, and the Santa Cruz Mountains and the Diablo Range rising on either side of the flat floor.

What's Included in the San Jose World

SAP Center

The Sharks' arena, the "Shark Tank", at the west edge of downtown beside Diridon Station and the Caltrain tracks — a large single roof that stands out among the mid-rise blocks.

San Pedro Square

Downtown's restaurant and market block, with the Peralta Adobe (the city's oldest building) in the middle, two streets from the Guadalupe River park.

Santana Row

An outdoor shopping street with apartments above, 6 km west opposite the Westfield Valley Fair mall. The two together are the largest retail footprint in the valley.

Willow Glen

A neighbourhood of small 1920s–30s houses around Lincoln Avenue, 3.5 km south of downtown. Quiet, low and residential — the Silicon Valley most people actually live in.

Plus all streets, buildings, parks, and terrain elevation from OpenStreetMap data — faithfully converted to Minecraft blocks. Available for both Java and Bedrock Edition.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's included in the San Jose Minecraft world?
The San Jose world includes all buildings, roads, parks, and terrain elevation from OpenStreetMap data. Key landmarks like SAP Center, San Pedro Square, Santana Row are faithfully recreated block by block.
How do I import the world into Minecraft?
For Java Edition, extract the zip and copy the world folder to your .minecraft/saves/ directory. For Bedrock Edition, double-click the .mcworld file to import automatically.
Do I need any mods to play?
No mods required. The world works with vanilla Minecraft, both Java and Bedrock Edition.
Why is San Jose's skyline so low?
Because of the airport. Approach paths to San Jose International pass over downtown, and the FAA height limit keeps towers to about 90 m — so the generated world is wide and even rather than spiky, which is the real city, not a conversion limit.
