About the Paris Minecraft World

Paris is the densest, most uniform city grid you can generate, and that uniformity is exactly what makes it read as Paris in Minecraft. Haussmann's 19th-century rebuild imposed a consistent cornice line across the whole centre — six or seven storeys, almost everywhere — so the generated world comes out as a continuous stone plateau cut by boulevards, rather than the spiky skyline most cities produce. The Seine curves through it with its islands intact, the great radial avenues fan out from their étoiles, and the few things that do rise above the roofline (the Eiffel Tower's lattice, Notre-Dame's mass on Île de la Cité, the Sacré-Cœur dome to the north) stand out precisely because everything around them agreed to stay the same height.

What's Included in the Paris World

Eiffel Tower

OpenStreetMap carries the tower's footprint and its 330 m height, so it generates as a genuine landmark you can see across the river — and the Champ de Mars runs southeast of it as a long green rectangle that frames the approach.

Champs-Élysées

The 1.9 km axis from Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe, with the twelve avenues radiating off the étoile. The radial pattern is one of the most recognisable street geometries on Earth from above.

Notre-Dame

Sits on Île de la Cité mid-river. Including the island means including both channels of the Seine and the bridges either side, which is what makes the centre of the world feel like Paris rather than a generic old town.

Louvre

An enormous U-shaped footprint wrapping the courtyard, opening west into the Tuileries. At block scale the palace reads as a wall of building around a void — unmistakable from the air.

Plus all streets, buildings, parks, and terrain elevation from OpenStreetMap data — faithfully converted to Minecraft blocks. Available for both Java and Bedrock Edition.

What Makes Paris Special in Minecraft

  • The uniform Haussmann roofline is the signature: a continuous six-storey plateau, not a skyline. Rooftop parkour across it works better here than in almost any other generated city.
  • The Seine's islands generate as real islands with water on both sides — start your spawn there and you get bridges in every direction.
  • Boulevard étoiles (Arc de Triomphe, Nation, République) come out as star-shaped junctions that look deliberate rather than procedural.
  • Montmartre sits on a genuine hill, so with terrain on you get real elevation change in the north — rare in an otherwise flat city.

Recommended Selection for Paris

A 4-6 km² selection centred between the Louvre and Notre-Dame captures the Seine, both islands, the Marais and the Latin Quarter — the dense historic core, and a Large tier world. Stretch toward 10-12 km² to bring in the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe together, which is the shot most people picture. Montmartre is far enough north that it is usually better generated as its own smaller world.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's included in the Paris Minecraft world?
The Paris world includes all buildings, roads, parks, and terrain elevation from OpenStreetMap data. Key landmarks like Eiffel Tower, Champs-Élysées, Notre-Dame are faithfully recreated block by block.
How do I import the world into Minecraft?
For Java Edition, extract the zip and copy the world folder to your .minecraft/saves/ directory. For Bedrock Edition, double-click the .mcworld file to import automatically.
Do I need any mods to play?
No mods required. The world works with vanilla Minecraft, both Java and Bedrock Edition.
Does the Eiffel Tower actually appear?
Yes — its footprint and height are in OpenStreetMap, so it generates at real scale and position. It renders as a blocky lattice tower rather than fine ironwork, but it is unmistakably the Eiffel Tower and it dominates the skyline exactly as it should.
Why does Paris look flatter than other cities in Minecraft?
Because it is. Height limits kept central Paris to a consistent cornice line, so the generated world is a broad even plateau with a handful of monuments breaking through. That's the real city, not a limitation of the conversion.
